Silver Bay Kennel Club Dog Show Recap: Best in Breed, Winning Booth and More

This past weekend was a fantastic one for the Surf & Sand Leonberger Club! A large number of our group attended the annual club meeting at the Silver Bay Kennel Club dog show in Del Mar. Thank you to all who showed up and participated in the discussions and the potluck!

Even more exciting, two of our own took breed on both days: Cu Leone’s Come Dancing (Sergio) on Saturday and Cu Leone’s Call Me the Breeze (Wanda June) on Sunday, both owned by our president, Genette Fuller! Congratulations to them!

Finally, a huge congratulations is in order to everyone who helped set up the wildly popular “Meet the Breeds” booth! It was easily one of the most popular attractions at the show all weekend, and no wonder why: it offered a beautiful backdrop to rotating groups of our wonderful dogs who were available for pets, hugs, and photos with all! The educational portion of the booth did its duty splendidly, and we saw many return “customers” who just couldn’t get enough of our Leos.

All the hard work paid off in a tangible way, too: the booth won the prestigious People’s Choice Award for best “Meet the Breeds” booth!

Steve Hughes was the mastermind behind the booth and is to be lauded for all his hard work and planning, as are Harry Lam and Jeanette and Scott Paton, without whose assistance the booth would not have been possible.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this very successful weekend! We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
